One step forward two steps behind
The last few weeks have really challenged me. The weather in the Midwest has been insane!!! Up and down temperatures, spring weather one day and blizzard the next. Well not only in my back pissed, so is my head. Not only have I been dealing with constant back pain, I've also been having daily headaches. This has made it very hard to keep up with working out. Have I've been working out, the answer is yes. I have been doing easy workouts a couple times a week to keep my body moving. Am I still having pain? Yes!!!
I see my chiropractor on a routine basis and if I have more pain than normal, I make a point to get in sooner than later. On my last visit I honestly said "My back is pissed off" So up on the table I went, he put on hand on my lower back and said "Yup, your back is pissed." Turns out my spine rotated itself again.............seriously??!! Of course I asked why since I haven't done anything stupid when it comes to handling my back. I've been extra cautious of what I have been doing to insure I don't make things worse. Unfortunately for me, this is how my life is having a curved spine. There is no rhyme of reason, it just happens. Mentally, this is draining. It's always one step forward, two steps back.
So, what now?? I push the negativity out of my head and keep moving forward. Sitting around being mad and frustrated will not get me anywhere. After getting readjusted helped with overall pain, though have still been feeling the weather in my bones. On really bad days of flared up pain I will turn to my prescription ibuprofen, I'm not against taking medicine when it is truly needed. With that being said, I don't like to take it all the time for several reasons. First, I don't want to get use to it because then it won't help me. Second, it can lead to other long term side effects in body. So I turn to essential oils to help on less severe days, and it does help!! There are several oils that can be used for pain, though my go to is Peppermint oil and Helios pain spray. There other oils I have tried, these two just tend to work the best for me. (Disclaimer: If you are new to oils, be sure to get the correct information before you start using them.) Along with using the oils, I have been doing extra stretching and enjoying hot baths. Come on, who doesn't enjoy a hot bath now and them! When it comes to workout, I have slowly been increasing them as my back allows.
Just because my spine is twisted and week, doesn't mean my spirit is. I will keep moving foward one step at a time.
